Popular sports reality show Rexona Australia’s Greatest Athlete has aired its second series on the Seven Network, perfectly bridging the gap between summer and winter sports broadcasts.
The Post Lounge’s Gold Coast office at Warner Roadshow Studios was home for the post production, Executive Produced by Peter Dempsey of Closeview TV for concept owners QSP TV.
The show features eight Australia's top athletes from a number of sporting codes facing off in fifteen grueling challenges designed to test strength, athleticism and endurance. The series was staged and shot at premier Gold Coast eco destination, Couran Cove Island Resort.
This year’s series again assembled an all star line up of iconic sporting personalities including Wendell Sailor, Geelong AFL Captain Cameron Ling, V8 Supercar Driver Craig Lowndes, Olympic Gold Medalist Diver Matt Mitcham, Socceroo Jason Culina, current World Ironman Champ Shannon Eckstein, and Australian Rugby Union Utility back James O’Connor.Series 1 champion, NRL’s Billy Slater again revealed his sporting prowess, and has returned to defend his series one title.
Australian Cricket captain Ricky Ponting was also back this year hosting along with co hosts and commentators Mark Baretta and Tom Williams. The entire mix proved a ratings winner with audience numbers peaking at a half a million viewers per episode.
