The Post Lounge goes to War
Wednesday 21st Jul 2010
After an amazing 5 week shoot in Queensland, the Sisters of War telemovie is now in post production with TPL. With telecine completed at our Gold Coast facility, we have commenced work on the VFX, grade & online. Post production is scheduled to be completed in September 2010 and the film will air on the ABC network later this year.
Produced by Andrew Wiseman of Pericles Films, directed by Brendan Maher and shot by Ben Nott ACS, Sisters of War tells the heroic story of Australian nurses and nuns posted in Papua New Guinea when the Japanese invasion and occupation occurred during World War II.
“When Andrew first approached us with this project we jumped at the opportunity to be a part of it. It's a fascinating, untold true story and we really wanted to do the story justice. As always it's advantageous for the production team to get us involved early in the process to ensure the visual effects shots are planned and shot correctly. On-set supervision was 11 days of a 26 day shoot, but that was just the beginning.” said Zenon Kohler, VFX Supervisor at The Post Lounge.
“Some of the VFX shots we are creating include CG Japanese and American war planes, matte paintings of harbours in Papua New Guinea and Yokohama and snow covered Japanese landscapes. Since it's a period piece everything has to be photoreal and, as always, Ben's cinematography is brilliant so The Post Lounge team are really looking forward to adding our VFX to such beautiful shots. We're all very excited about this project.” continued Kohler.
